The School of Historical Studies which came into existence in 1970 consists of 3 Departments - Modern, Medieval and Ancient. The Division of School into 3 components is, however, strictly meant for specialization and research in the respective fields by individual Faculty Members. As far as teaching in concerned the School offers two PG courses i) M. A. and ii) M. Phil., both common to all the 3 Departments. In addition, Doctoral Research at Ph. D. level is also conducted for full time and part time Scholars.
In addition to individual research and regular teaching, periodical seminars, symposia, workshops, refresher course at Regional and National level are being arranged periodically for updating knowledge of the students and the teachers in the field of historical knowledge.
At present, there are 9 teachers in the school whose particulars are furnished under relevant heads.
