It was established as Audio Visual Research Center (AVRC) in 1986 and upgraded as Educational Media Research Center (EMRC) in 1991. Subsequently it has renamed as Educational Multimedia Research Center in 2005.This center is under UGC's Non-Plan.
So far it has produced 3380 Educational Television Programmes for the UGC's countrywide classroom project (CWCRP). It has also produced one lor programme and is planning to produce E-content programmes.This center has installed the satellite Interaction Terminal (SIT) of EDUSAT to facilitate visual classroom mode. The programme produced by this center and other UGC media centers can be viewed at the CEC Website www.cec.ugc.org.
The center is planning to conduct short term video courses in script writing.Video Production, Video Editing, Film Appreciation courses for the interested unemployed youths and Video Practical training programmes for the Mass Communication students. This will also help to regenerate money to the center.
